Sugar Affects - More Than You Know

Experts know that sugar promotes inflammation. When people eat sugar or carbs, the sugar floods the blood, causing a spike of insulin and androgens, which bind to hair follicles and cause the hair to fall out. A high sugar intake spikes your blood sugar levels which damages hair follicles and potentially accelerate hair loss. It also causes inflammation of the scalp leading to loss of quality and quantity of hair. This would further cause to dry scalp, dandruff, and damaged hair follicle. Consuming too much sugar will leave you with thinning hair and may be why you aren't experiencing any new growth. The goal is to avoid artificial sugars, as well as foods or drinks that add extra sugar to the recipe.

From an article: According to Dr. Batra’s a homeopathy clinic that specializes in hair loss, "One study published in the European Journal of Cardiovascular Risk found that women with some markers of insulin resistance have a greater risk for androgenic alopecia (AGA), or female pattern baldness." - Naturally curly
